The Valley of Geysers – the caldera of the Uzon volcano

Once there was a volcano and now it is a giant volcanic cup, which is called caldera the size of 9x12 km. Due to the explosive activity this depression or caldera was formed at the place of the Uzon volcano about 40000 years ago. Only a part of this volcano is left and remains still in a form of a peak. The rest of the cone has collapsed down to the space emptied by volcanic eruptions. The uniqueness of the caldera is manifested in the variety of hydrothermal activity mineral lakes, thermal springs, mud pots and mud volcanoes. Thermal areas of Uzon are actual labs for people who research today’s processes of mineral and ore creation. Uzon is a great place for tourists who wish to experience a real steaming volcanic kingdom.

The Timonovsky Hot Springs attract many tourists. It is a beautiful place with highly therapeutic properties and comfortable swimming opportunities. You can bathe in small natural pools in the area where springs flew into the River or in specially made indoor pools.

Lake Kurilskoye is one of the most large-scale salmon-spawning grounds in Kamchatka. The abundance of fish in the lake attracts the brown bears. The tower is built on the territory of the lake where the tourists can observe the amazing bears' fishing.
