Volcanoes of Kamchatka. Goreliy Volcano |

The volcano Goreliy is situated in the area of South Kamchatka in 75 km southward from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski.
The volcano consists of two huge structures: ancient shield-shaped construction, which top is a plateau of 13 km caldera, and a modern one – of a type of a composite stratovolcano.
The modern construction was born and formed in the central part of the caldera. It’s summit is collared with a chain of exploded craters, approximately 30 minor slag cones are also situated at the slopes. The absolute height of the central cone is 1829 meters.
The ancient part, formed by lava flows, is same interesting and original. It takes the square of 650 km. The flat slopes of the part can be traced northward up to the upper stream of Paratunka River, north-eastward to the upper stream of Zhirovaya River, eastward to the rivers Falshivaya and Vulcannaya, southward to the northern slopes of Asacha Volcano and westward to the Tolmachev’s Vale.
