Volcanoes of Kamchatka. Volcano Bezymianny |
|
The Volcano Bezymianny is situated in the central part of the Klutchevskaya volcanic group to be southward from Klutchevskoy Volcano. It is a massif with destroyed top, latitude prolonged to some extent. In the east part of the massif there is a fragment of more ancient volcano, which most part was destroyed as a result of explosion in 1956. Only a small fragment in the South-East part of definite construction is safe. The western part of the massif is the strato-volcano Bezymianny itself. The slopes of the volcano are covered with a number of lava flows, youngest of these flows covering the southern and south-western slopes. At the foot of the volcano sixteen extrusive domes of different ages and composition are situated. The destroyed top of the volcano is a huge crater, the diameter takes 1,3 õ 2,8 km, opened to the East; in the center of the cater there is a complicated extrusive-effusive construction – the dome Noviy (New). The absolute height of the volcano until the eruption in 1956 was 3075 m, although in 1976 the height was 2886 m approximately.
From the top of the volcano an impressive panorama can be seen of the volcanos Kamen, Klutchevskoy and Ovalnsys Zymina.
